Rancho Boa Vista
Current release notes: The new normal is erratic weather patterns. Block 6 of our 2017 vintage saw a wetter than average winter, with the heavy rains theoretically ending California’s five-year drought; however, the drought did not end in Santa Barbara County. The wet winter did have the effect of percolating soils and reducing the salts in some of the vineyards, including the grounds of Rancho Boa Vista. Clear skies and a warm spring also allowed for consistent flowering throughout the region. During a set of 90-degree days, we made the decision to harvest on October 13 at 10 p.m. This started the journey of our grapes for Boscoe Wine Co.’s 2017 Lizette, which ended in the bottle on July 22 of the following year.
