THE VINEYARD
Rancho Boa Vista
2016 release notes: Block 6 of our 2016 vintage saw a colder winter with a comparatively warm spring, leading to bud break in late March. Temperatures increased in May and June; however, August was unseasonably cold, with the vines seeing averages of 73 degrees during the day and 53 degrees at night. Grenache Blanc needs daytime heat to ripen (85-90 degrees), and we finally received three very hot days in a row late into September. Because a cold spell was predicted to follow, we decided to harvest on September 30 at 9:30 p.m. after the second day of 90-plus degree heat. This started the journey of our grapes for Boscoe’s 2016 Lizette, which ended in the bottle on June 7 of the following year.
